Arachne began as a project to wield artificial intelligence as a tool for magic. The software allows users to interact with their computer without touch, utilizing the gesture recognition capability embedded into every computer and smartphone. Named for Arachne's passage in Ovid's Metamorphoses, the program was posed as a challenge to the "gods of technology" Facebook, Google, and Microsoft: Arachne was not only created by outsiders, but reflected a level of innovation that Silicon Valley had not displayed for at least a decade. The Long Island version of Arachne defeating Minerva. After years of development, a demo that recognizes 4 gestures (up, down, left, right) was established. Arachne is currently being updated to incorporate LiDAR scanning.
